Jaala and Tyler
Cara Gallagher
With Splendour in the Grass fast approaching, I thought it was about time I blogged about Jaala and Tyler, my Splendour in the Grass couple.
This is literally an excerpt from their ceremony:
"The year is 2006, the location is Splendour in the Grass, it's the last set of a huge weekend, The Scissor Sisters. Everyone is drunk.
Jaala started talking to the guy next to her, which happened to be Tyler's friend, when Tyler tapped her on the shoulder and asked if she would give him a Splendour pash.
She said she thought, “Aw, he's alright, if he's a bad kisser I'll just move to a different part of the festival”.
They pashed – he was a good kisser and he found himself a wife at Splendour."
It was a very fun, relaxed wedding. They chose a vintage theme, DIY'd the crap out of it, and basically knocked it out of the park.
They had a guest list of 20, which included immediate family member and their closest friends.
We all gathered around one end of the pool for the ceremony, taking in the amazing Newrybar hinterland view from Byron Plantation and their guests were lucky enough to then feast on food from Harvest Cafe well into the night.
When I entered the pool area at Byron Plantation, This Modern Love by Bloc Party was playing on a 'preshow' playlist I knew Jaala and Tyler had prepared and I had such a overwhelming feeling of belonging.
The song (along with Bowie's Modern Love) was the inspiration for my business name and it just really hit home for me that, "I am in the right place".
Apart from being deadset legends, and picking me to share in their intimate, relaxed and hilarious wedding, Jaala and Tyler really impacted my life in two very profound ways.
One was regarding my little girl's health and her diet (suggestions Jaala made led to discoveries that my daughter was gluten and dairy intolerant and ended 8 months of seriously bad times in our home) and the other was by reconnecting me with an old friend and helping me let go of something that had been eating me up inside for 20 years. And they paid me!
All weddings are special to me, and I make a concerted effort to help make it the most memorable and happy day in a couple's life, but so often I get more than I thought possible out of just doing my job.
Thank you Jaala and Tyler. You well and truly rock, I'm so glad you pashed at Splendour and then found me on the internet and asked me to marry you.
Xx
